The Last Post - maybe?

I'm afraid that, as much as I adore and love TDF, I might have to stop posting on it. You see, I have my own two blogs that are in need of posting and keeping watch on myself, and I've got so busy elsewhere too. So TDF has been haulted for a while - not forever, but a bit, yeah? Soooooo sorry to our regular readers, but it is a bit much to take on at the mo.

Just a little notice!

Just thought I'd tell you that I will have to put tomorrows issue off until Tuesday, because I have my (very hectic, horrible) exams tomorrow, thursday and friday, which means I won't be posting on those days. I'm really sorry to everyone who follows TDF and will make it up to you - though the (small, and I suppose not that bothering) lack of comments I know that you enjoy reading each post that we take our time on making perfect. I just want to say that I've created a sister blog to The Daily Fashionista, Your Makeup Masterclass, which is all about makeup (duh!) then fashion like this blog. Please check it out for me at http://yourmakeupmasterclass.blogspot.com/
thanks so much, and lots of fashionable hugs,
Kate Noblet, the Manager

Sorry!

Just writing to say that I have resigned from the magazine. Thanks for having me, and sorry. I just don't have time, and there are no comments anyway. Thanks [Amber] for the opportunity (:

TDF Issue #32: 3 Summer beauty bargains for under a fiver!

no.1 summer beauty bargain for under a fiver: Models Own Glitter Nail Polish, £5.00 This is my summer nail varnish colour! It's a gorgeous, glittery, rich shade of blue that isn't too dark or too pale. It's hard-wearing, so it will last on your nails all summer and not chip off, and long-lasting. £5 for a 14ml of hot blue nail colour - not bad!
Buy at: http://www.asos.com/Models-Own/Models-Own-Glitter-Nail-Polish/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=826894

no.2 summer beauty bargain for under a fiver: Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint, £4.25 OK, it isn't exactly normal to wear green lipstick, but this lipstick is just so clever: it turns pink when applied to lips! And, depending from the acid level on your lips, it can decide how pale or rich the shade of pink is! What about that for a lipstick?
Buy from Superdrug stores or here: http://www.barrym.com/touch-of-magic-lip-paint

No. 3 summer beauty bargain for under a fiver: Technic 9 pot eye shimmer, £1.49 This eye compact contains 9 pastel eye colours that are all the rage at the moment. For only £1.49, it has the only eye colours you'll need to add a splash of colour of your outfit without over doing it, plus the shades suit all eye colours, so if you're dark, pale or somewhere in between, you can still make you eyes dazzle!

GOODBYE

I am very sorry to have to do this but...I am resigning as Manager. I'm very, very sorry! These are the reasons why:

  • It means I have to find something to blog about every day
  • The Staff just aren't putting enough effort in
  • We get hardly any comments or emails
So...I'm resigning - I'm not Manager anymore. If you would like to take my place, email me with your name, age and why you'd like to take over.

the-daily-fashionista@hotmail.com
Again, I'm very sorry and if you would like to take over as manager, feel free to email me.Thank you.

TDF Issue #31: Topshop Makeup

I received emails about Topshop Makeup, so I decided to go and check it out. I went into Edinburgh today and checked out their makeup. So far I'm not terribly impressed so I am going to be waiting to see if there are any improvements. The prices are slightly high - Skin glow and foundation type stuff are £10 each!

You can take a look at Topshop's new makeup range for yourself HERE. What are your opinions? Please comment!

TDF Issue #30: Relax On The Beach

Here in the UK the sun is shining and, occasionally, it's actually hot! I know, what a pleasant surprise for us. Lots of people are making the most of this weather (because the sun could go any minute, you never know in England) and going down to the beach. So that's what this Polyvore creation was inspired by...

Relax on the Beach

I especially love the swimming cozzie and the cute bag. What do you all think? Comments are muchio appreciated!

TDF Issue #29: Rock Chick

If you're not really into girly florals at the moment, why don't you jazz it up a bit with these awesome outfits?

And I mean 'Funky' in a good way,

Miranda Cosgrove, this is for you :O)

It's red, it's grey, it's...

Admittedly, a lot of these are designer and way over £1,000 but you could find something similar. I mean come on - these outfits are awesome! I'd kill for these (not literally. You know what I mean.)

TDF Issue #26: Ria Reports

The voters were thirteen of my friends, and they found New Look to be the overall best shop. A lot of them loved two shops, but I was a meany, and made them pick one! :O)

Shops:

Topshop (2 votes): 7/10 Although they have gorgeous clothes, the price lets them down. With dresses ranged from about £20-£120, I wouldn't expect people could afford to get all their clothes from there.

Miss Selfridge (0 votes): As above. Such beautiful designs, but too expensive.

New Look (8 votes): 10/10 Pretty clothes, perfect price. What's NOT to love? They even have a teenagers section (9-15), which is brilliant!

David and Goliath (2 votes): Again, pricey - but with the loveable wacky designs, you can't resist!

Peacocks (1 vote): Peacocks is a good shop for younger people. For 6-11 year olds, its great - but when older, its not really what girls want.

Primark (1 vote): Cheap prices, although I personally don't shop there. Primark uses child labour and exploitation - so its not for me.

New Look is a brilliant shop. I went shopping a couple of weeks back, and bought practically the whole Generation (9-15) section! There's a sale on now (9-15), so get on over there!

TDF Issue #25: Gothica Pink

Gothica Pink

Lots of magazines are saying 'Black is the new pink!' or 'Pink is the new black!'  Well in my opinion, pink and black are a perfect match. They go perfectly together! Don't you think? I made the above outfit myself, what do you think? I'd really appreciate some comments with your opinions :O)

TDF Issue #24: Indian Patterns

We all know florals are in fashion right now - all you have to do is look out of your window and you can see almost everyone is wearing florals! It's amazing. But, also in fashion, are Indian style patterns. They really brighten up and outfit while also looking sophisticated but cool!

TDF Issue #23: Kate's Reviews

Sophie Ellis Bextor looks lovely in this! I love her prom-dress-meets-socks-and-heels look. It's totally cute, though Sophie gives a little glamour with the eye make-up, and I rection white makes her look as angelic as an actual angel! The dress is perfect, black and white always good colours to wear, and the cardigan is a good change from a biker jacket, keeping you warm too. The socks risk looking little-girly, but looks great with the white high heels. Her accessories are not too O-T-T, a black shoulder bag and simple necklace, and her blue eyeliner gives a bit of colour to the monochrone!
Verdict: 10/10
At the Lulu + Guiness party in London, Sophie still looks glamourous. I'm not too sure on the sleeves of her black filmy top, but the skirt is something I'd probably like to wear. The shoes match the top, so Sophie knows how to co-ordinate her outfit to matching colours, and the clutch finishes it off right. I don't think anyone could really say that they would walk past Sophie and think she looked drab and plain - the red lippy itself proves that that is wrong!
Verdict: 7.5/10
Everyone knows that florals are always big in fashion, and Sophie is on trend here at a Marie Claire party with her husband. Florals are always best with a bright colour matched with a lighter one - in this case, light-blue and hot-pink. The white heels, gold belt and quilted black leather bag set it off perfectly, being black-and-white. If they were bright, Sophie would look like some 80s dressy star!
Verdict: 6.5/10

TDF Issue #21: Models?

What is a Model?
A model sometimes called a mannequin, is a person who is employed for the purpose of displaying and promoting fashion clothing or other products and for advertising or promotional purposes or who poses for works of art.
The British Association of Model Agents (AMA) says that female models should be around 34-24-34 in (86-61-86 cm) and at least 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) tall. The ideal measurements used to be 35.5-23.5-35.5 in (90-60-90 cm) which were the measurements of Marilyn Monroe (actress and singer). However, today's fashion models tend to have measurements closer to the AMA recommended shape. Although in some fashion industries, a size 00 is more ideal than a size 0.
The first person described as a fashion model is Parisian shopgirl, Marie Vernet Worth. She was a model in 1853, with the help of her fashion designer husband, Charles Frederick Worth.
